Who are you?: A Dane who emigrated from Denmark at age 22 and have since lived and worked in Canada, Sweden and the US where I still reside.
I really like …?: My wife and children. Hiking, golfing, travelling, spending time with good friends. Beekeeping. Single malt scotch!
I really hate … ?: Lima beans. People who expect others to wait on them.
Favorite food?: My wife Mary’s cooking...all of it!
Are you active?: Athletic history (cycling results & other): In the fall of 2012 I will have hiked the entire 272 miles (500 km) Vermont Long Trail from Canada to Massachusetts. I am also a certified SCUBA and skydiver.
Favorite sport? – and why?: Hiking. Its healthy, carbon free, inexpensive, and an excellent way to meet good people.
Who are your heroes? Why?: People who want to try new things. The early American settlers.
What made you want to crew for the Team4Danes?: John Vammen asked me. Easy as that!
What are your expectations for RAAM?: To do the best I can to support the 4 cyclists and my team.
What intimidates you most about RAAM? That I might start hallucinating after several days and nights of looking at a biker’s rear end!
Favorite quote, either famous or not, that fuels your ambition: Just do it!
Last remark?: See you in Annapolis. It’s a beautiful town.

 

BIOGRAPHY

 

Keld Alstrup is the Vermont and New Hampshire representative of FranNet, a national franchise consulting firm representing dozens of franchise concepts in all types of businesses and investment levels. The integral function of his firm is to assist and coach clients in finding the best fit franchise business for themselves, as well as educate his clients and the public in the area of franchising in general. During his franchise consulting career, Keld has helped clients with the opening of well over 120 businesses all over the United States

Keld is also a former director and organizer of the Greater Hudson Bank, the latest bank to open in Orange County, NY.  He is also a partner in two franchised financial services firms, as well as a director with Eagle Tax Services, a franchise concept in the tax preparation business. 

 

Keld was born in Denmark and immigrated as a young man to Canada where he joined the Volvo North America organization.  He was transferred by Volvo to the United States and served the company for 26 years in three countries before leaving the position of Officer and Vice President, Human Resources for Volvo North America Corporation.  

Keld holds an MBA degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He has lived andworked in Denmark, Canada, Sweden and the U. S. and is a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops. He is a current and past board member of several community and charitable organizations.

 

Keld has two grown children and resides with his wife Mary in Monroe, New York, and Manchester Village, Vermont.
